Orange County DUI “roving patrols” out tonight

From an article in the Orange County Register, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting roving patrols in the cities of Aliso Viejo, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel and Laguna Woods looking for drunk drivers.  In addition to regular patrol deputies, specific officers will be out, looking for suspected DUI drivers.

Just because officers are out on a DUI task force assignment doesn’t change the rules.  They must still have proper justification to stop you for investigation.  There are certain procedures required by law they must follow in a DUI case. If they don’t, any evidence they gather, including your blood alcohol results, are subject to being excluded by the judge.

If you get caught up in tonight’s operation and are arrested for DUI, call me for a consultation about your case.  Don’t delay – your license status could be in jeopardy through the DMV, even without a criminal case being filed right away.  Here are some additional articles I’ve written that may be of interest to you.
